Abingdon Vale Cricket Club was formed in 1993 from the merger of two existing cricket clubs in Abingdon, we currently play League cricket on Saturdays in the Cherwell League. Our First XI play in Division Two, our Second XI in Division Five, our Third XI in Division 8A, and, for the first time in 2008, we have a Fourth XI in Division 9B. We also entered The Cockspur Cup for the first time in 2007, and are doing so again this season.
We have a Sunday XI that have a full set of friendly fixtures, and in addition we enter an Over 40 team in the Over 40 Knockout Competition. We also aim to invest strongly in the future of cricket locally and on a county basis, and we have a thriving Junior Cricket Section currently with teams from Under 10 to Under 17 levels. Our club welcomes both boys and girls and offers coaching during the season. Abingdon Vale are proud to be taking part in the "Chance to Shine" project in association with local schools to promote cricket as part of sustainable cricket programmes in England and Wales. Our picturesque grounds are located next to the River Thames in Abingdon, boasting two squares as well as practice facilities and a club bar. Our social events include an annual post-season dinner held at the club, wine and whisky tastings, as well as club golf days.
